Anyone is periodically faced with stressful situations. They are all different in their intensity. For some, stress passes without consequences, while others begin to hurt because of it. How to calm down and relieve nervous tension? Why is chronic stress dangerous?

With chronic stress, a person may experience the following symptoms and conditions:

1. Poor sleep, frequent awakenings or insomnia.

2. Fatigue that does not go away even after a long rest or vacation.

3. Headaches, dizziness.

4. Abnormal eating behavior (lack of appetite or pathological desire to eat everything).

5. Disruption of the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, pain in the stomach.

6. Tremor or numbness of the limbs.

7. Increased sweating.

8. Loss of interest in work, forgetfulness, distraction of attention, inability to concentrate or remember information.

9. Decreased sex drive.

10. Sharp jumps in weight.

11. Rash on the skin of an incomprehensible nature.

How to relieve stress? 

There are many different ways and tips to relieve stress:

1. Listen to your favorite music.

2. Do gymnastics for the hands, rubbing the fingertips well.

3. Start hardening or taking a contrast shower.

4. Master meditation or breathing techniques.

5. Keep a diary or write down your experiences on a piece of paper. It helps clear your head of negative thoughts.

6. Communicate more with people, do not try to deliberately distance yourself.

7. Start volunteering, helping others.

8. Laugh more and experience bright, positive emotions.

9. Learn to relax your muscles.

10. Engage in cyclic sports (imply repetition of certain actions). These sports include swimming, rowing, cycling, and running.

11. Hug, kiss loved ones.

12. Find a hobby or activity to your liking. It can help distract you from everyday problems and promote emotional health.

13. Spend more time in the fresh air, do not give up on trips out of town, walk in the woods.

14. Sign up for a few relaxing massage sessions.

15. Regularly visit the bathhouse or sauna.

16. Try not to dwell on a stressful situation, especially if there is no way to change anything.

17. Limit yourself from negative news.
