Do I need to walk regularly in the forest for my mental health?

In the modern world, man is subject to a constant collapsing, growing more and more urbanization, the action of industry. The incidence of diseases is increasing. One of the types of recreation of an urban person is outdoor recreation. However, nature is not only calming, but also healing. In some eastern countries, for example in Japan, there is even a whole medical procedure called "bathing in the forest". We call it sylvotherapy.

For the therapeutic purpose of using park compositions, collected according to certain rules and having a therapeutic effect. The action of green spaces is linked in turn with the help of phytoncides - volatile substances with antimicrobial properties that can kill some insects, etc. The phytoncides themselves are nothing like plant immunity. Prominent examples of plants are pine trees, juniper. Also broadleaf trees clean the air from dust.

What are the medicinal properties of these volatile substances? Firstly, it is, of course, antibacterial action, and secondly, they stimulate the immune system in the system as antioxidants. Thirdly, the metabolism improves, the blood circulation in the body increases, which has a beneficial effect on cardiac activity (for example, lilacs have such capabilities). And, of course, phytoncides have a calming effect, relieve stress, which is used even in the treatment of mental illness. The concentration of these substances in the air is not the same throughout the day: in the morning and in the evening it is minimal, it falls somewhere around 13:00.

But this is not the only weapon in nature's arsenal used to fight for health. It is impossible not to note the effects of color therapy on a person by green foliage, delicate colors of flowers. The positive effect of green on human eyes, as well as on the stimulation of heart and mental work, has long been proven; it is believed to help relieve stress. Even silence in the forest is a healing power. Indeed, in urban conditions, the noise level is too high, reduces the adaptive abilities of the psyche, leads to nervous breakdowns, poor hearing, memory. And, as mentioned earlier, they trap dust, which is trapped by all the harmful substances in the air, they trap all the harmful substances in the air.

So, guided by the above, we can safely consider the forest as one of the best medicines in this world. Sylvotherapy is not only a treatment, but simply a part of a healthy lifestyle for any person. It is recommended to carry out recovery and wellness walks at least once a week. Just walk after work or on a weekend in the forest and immediately notice how it becomes easier for you, how your mood rises and the world appears in this color. The forest is our reliable friend, take care of it, take care of nature and your own health.
